This summer we will be running a modified in-person summer camp for children and youth ages 5-13. We will be running camp out of both Midland and Penetanguishene for a total of 8 weeks. Each day campers will participate in fun crafts, games and activities with activities being held outside as much as possible. Physical distancing and frequent handwashing will be incorporated into our daily routine.
Camp will run from 9am-3:30pm Monday through Friday. This summer before/after care will not be available however, we have extended drop off and pick up times. Drop off will be taking place from 8:30-9am and pick up will take place from 3:30-4pm.
Camp fees are $160 per week and will include a camp activity kit that will contain supplies campers will need for their week at camp (scissors, glue stick, markers etc.).
*Camp registration will open Thursday, June 10th at 6pm. Camp spots are limited and will be available on first come first serve basis. We strongly recommend creating a profile on our Amilia registration system prior to Thursday morning to make for a quicker registration experience when camp registration opens: www.amilia.com/store/en/bgcns/shop/memberships/15942
This summer we will be running Summer Camp out of 3 locations: Penetanguishene Centennial Museum (for ages 5-6), Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre (for ages 7-11) and will have 2 cohorts at the BGC North Simcoe Club located at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre (for those ages 6-13).
*Campers are strongly encouraged to register at one camp location for the entire summer.
During camper drop off and pick up times we ask that everyone wear masks and adhere to social distancing regulations. If there is someone at the sign in/sign out table when you arrive, we ask that you follow social distancing until your turn.
This summer camp cohort sizes are smaller and camp spaces are limited. Campers will be grouped together in cohorts of 15-20 depending on their camp location with 3 staff. Staff will not be shared between groups and cohorts will not be interacting with one another during the day.
All campers will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms every morning prior to and upon arrival to camp. A Club questionnaire is to be completed by parents/guardians every morning prior to arrival at the camp location. An email prior to the start of camp will be sent out to all parents/guardians that will include the Club questionnaire link.
Upon arrival at their camp site, campers will be screened by staff (quick health screening questions and temperature taken) before they are able to enter camp.
If a camper develops any common or related symptoms to COVID-19 during the day while at camp a phone call will be made to their parents/guardians requesting immediate pick up of the camper. The camper will be moved to an isolated space with a staff member until pick-up.
All campers and staff will be required to wear masks while indoors during summer camp (except for during snack and lunch breaks). While outside and in instances where physical distancing can be enforced, campers will not be required to wear masks.
We recommend packing multiple masks each camp day so that masks can be changed frequently throughout the day.
Every day campers should bring a healthy lunch with multiple snacks and a refillable water bottle. As the majority of our day will be spent outdoors, sunscreen and weather appropriate clothing (hat, rain jacket etc.) should be brought every day as well.
Non-essential personal items such as toys, electronics etc. are not permitted at camp and should be left at home.
As we do not want camp fees to be a barrier and we want to ensure summer camp is accessible to all, BGC North Simcoe has subsidy options available to those who are in need of financial support. For more information and to fill out the subsidy application forms, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 705-526-6159.
