Happy February Everyone!
A few things to keep you up to date on what’s going at the Boys & Girls Club:
Winterfest is almost here!! Join us Saturday, February 6th, 2016 for what has truly become one of our favorite annual traditions!! Between 11-4pm in the Club room we are thrilled to have Mabel Moon and Zoo to You back again!! Or take the Polar Plunge at 1pm. For those that are jumping, please meet at the change rooms outside the gym for 12:30pm. For those wanting to watch, be sure you’re down in the park where the puddle jump is being held for 1pm.
This year Natalie has joined our team as our Tutor. The tutor program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Simcoe provides learning strategies and assistance to students in areas they find difficult. Natalie runs sessions Monday to Thursday and has three categories of assistance for grades JK up to grade 8. The programs include: reading help in small groups, one-on-one help in academics such as math and language, and homework help.
This year Kelsi has taken on the position of Physical Literacy Instructor. Her goal with this program is to provide further education to each participant about basic skills of movement. Each day of the week she works with different age groups for 45 minutes and focuses on different skill sets that they can later use in daily activities and their sport interests.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found is full again!! Please be sure to take a look and see if any of the items belong to your family. We do ask that you please label belongings so we can return them to you and so there are not any mix ups. With winter season comes a lot of black snow pants, please label them and be sure to check as you grab them that they are the correct ones.
Many of our members now have indoor shoes, it would be wonderful to see everyone with a pair so we can avoid bare feet or wet socks.
Snow Days: On Bus cancellation days the Club does not open. We are in the NORTH Zone.
